What do the scholars and experts of shari’ah say regarding purchasing an animal to sacrifice on Eid based on its weight? In this scenario the animal is weighed in kilograms with the price per kilogram already being decided beforehand. It is a popular opinion in our country that it is impermissible to purchase a sacrificial animal based on its weight.

Answer:

It is permissible to purchase a sacrificial animal based on its weight. Likewise, to pay its price based on an agreed amount per kilogram is also permissible.
