Mawlid un-Nabi and obeying the Messenger ﷺ

Question:

What do the expert scholars of shari’ah say: Allah ﷻ has mentioned, “Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah”. Allah ﷻ has joined the obedience to the Prophet ﷺ with His ﷻ obedience. How can we show our obedience to the Messenger ﷺ during the days of Mawlid?

Answer:

It is necessary to show obedience to our Beloved Prophet ﷺ. There is no doubt that in obeying the Messenger ﷺ you are in essence obeying Allah ﷺ. Allah Ta’ala has mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, “Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah” (Surah Al-Nisa:80). This verse demands that we show our love and obedience to the Prophet ﷺ in everything that we do. The best way to uphold this during the blessed days of the Mawlid is to try our best and perform those actions which Allah ﷻ is pleased with and to avoid those actions which anger Allah ﷻ.

Allah ﷻ has told us in the Holy Qur’an, “Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you avoid it” (Surah Al-Hashr:7). It is necessary for us to stay within the boundaries which the Beloved Messenger ﷺ has laid down for us. We must try our best to implement the teachings he ﷺ gave us. By doing these things, we hope that He ﷺ will be happy with us and we can be counted amongst his true followers.

It is important that we implement the Prophetic teachings in our daily lives. The sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ should guide how we are at home, at work, with our family and friends. It will allow us to improve ourselves and those around us. To act upon this will be the best way to honour and show ones love to the Prophet ﷺ during the Mawlid un-Nabi.

And Allah ﷻ knows best
