Making dua at iftar time

Question:

What do the scholars and experts of shari’ah say regarding supplicating whilst opening the fast? Is a du’a accepted at this time?

Answer:

It is mustahab to make a du’a at the time of iftar. It is a time of great barakah and acceptance in the blessed court of Allah ﷻ.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘As narrates that Prophet ﷺ said, “The prayer of a fasting person, at the time of the opening of the fast, is not rejected.” (Ibn Majah)

In another narration Sayyiduna Ibn Umar mentions that when the Prophet ﷺ would open the fast, he would say, “The thirst has gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.” (Abu Dawud)

And Allah ﷻ knows the best
