How should the grave of a Muslim be treated?

To what extent is the sanctity and honour of the graves of the Muslims?

It is impermissible to walk on the graves of the Muslims, to sit on them and to place one’s foot on them. This is to the extent that the scholars have explicitly stated that it is impermissible to walk a new path that is built in the graveyard. Those whose relatives are buried in such a place surrounded by graves and hence it is not possible to go to the graves of their relatives without having to place one’s foot on the graves, then they should pray Fatiha from afar and not go close.

And Allah ﷻ knows the best
