Giving greetings on the New Islamic Year

Question:

What do the scholars and experts of shari’ah say regarding the new year? Is it permissible to exchange greetings at the beginning of the Hijri year?

Answer:

All perfect praise is for Allah , The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah , and that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger.

Exchanging greetings for the Islamic new year is not a bid’ah (innovation). It is permissible in the shari’ah.

And Allah ﷻ knows best.
