Forgetting to shave the hair during hajj

What do the experts and scholars of shari’ah say regarding a person who performed Hajj al-Tamattu, Tawaf Al-Ifadah, and Sa’i, but forgot to shave or cut his hair, what is the ruling for this?

All perfect praise is for Allah ﷻ, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah ﷻ, and that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger.

Firstly, let me commend you for asking such an important question relating to your religion and may Allah ﷻ increase you in your knowledge.

According to the majority of the Fuqaha and Madhahib, the shaving or cutting of the hair is Wajib (necessary). If this is omitted, then a person will have to perform Damm (sacrifice of an animal). Therefore, in the scenario presented Damm must be a given by sacrificing a goat or a sheep.

And Allah ﷻ knows best
