Do I shorten my prayers when returning home for a few days?

Question:

A person works in a city which is around 100 miles away from his home town. He comes to his home town for 8-10 days after 1-2 years and then he goes back to his place of work. How should he offer his prayer?

Answer:

A person is always considered a “resident” in his home town even if he is there for less than a day. The condition of having the intention to stay somewhere for 15 days to become a “resident” is not required for a person if he is returning to his home town. He is required to offer his prayer in full in his home town. When the person goes back to the city where he works, he will have to offer his prayer in full there as well, unless he intends to stay in that city for less than 15 days. However, the person should offer qasr prayer when he is travelling to his home town from his place of work or returning to his place of work from his home town. In other words, he should shorten his prayers.
