Combing your hair whilst in the state of Ihram

Question:
What is the ruling on combing the hair while in the state of Ihram?

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah ﷻ, and peace and blessings be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and upon his family, companions, and those who follow him.

Combing the hair while in Ihram is prohibited for a person who is certain that it will cause hair to fall out. If one is not sure whether hair will fall out or not, then combing is discouraged (makruh), to avoid the possibility of causing hair loss.

If a man or woman combs their hair and notices some hair on the comb, but it is unclear whether the hair broke due to combing or had already fallen out earlier, then no penalty (fidya) is required. This is because it’s possible that the hair had already fallen out, and Islamic rulings are not based on doubt or assumption.

And Allah ﷻ knows best.
