Question:
What do the scholars and experts say regarding the truth of the statement: ‘Astrologers have spoken a lie even if it is verified’?
Answer:
All perfect praise is for Allah ﷻ, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah ﷻ, and that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger.
This statement is not classed as a hadith even though its meaning is correct. Astrologers promote the idea they have knowledge of the unknown which is far from the truth.
Their statements will be disregarded even if by some coincidence they turn out to be true. Astrologers rely on demonic support and if some truth is obtained, they pollute this with more fabrications. It is difficult to differentiate between their truth and falsehood.
It has been narrated by Sayyidah `Aisha: Some people asked the Prophet ﷺ regarding the soothsayers. He said, “They are nothing.” They said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Some of their talks come true.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “That word which happens to be true is what a Jinn snatches away by stealth (from the Heaven) and pours it in the ears of his friend (the foreteller) with a sound like the cackling of a hen. The soothsayers then mix with that word, one hundred lies.” (Bukhari)
And Allah ﷻ knows best
