Are the deceased aware when the living visit their graves?

Question:

Do the deceased realise if his/her relative or friend visit them at their grave? Is there any harm or benefit given to the deceased when the living visit their graves? Do the deceased have knowledge of whatever is recited and the reward of which is sent to the deceased?

Answer:

Whoever visits the grave, the deceased recognizes that person, sees that person, and hears whatever the person says. The deceased is aware of whatever reward is sent from the living. If a dear friend or relative visits the grave, then the deceased feels happiness and joy as they would have felt in this world. All of what has been mentioned is a summary of what has been narrated in the authentic traditions, details of which we have mentioned in our book Hayat al-Mawat fi Bayan Sama al-Amwat.

And Allah ﷻ knows Best.
